My dream family holiday

By: Tiffany Ng

Introduction

Since I was young, I was blessed the privilege of being born in a family financially stable enough to travel consistently. So I am not a stranger in traveling to different countries and experiencing different cultures.

However, me and my family have yet to go to Europe at all, which has been a long time dream for us to go. In fact, the only reason we hadn’t yet was because of difficult schedules. My father either had work, or me and my sister had school. And my mom wanted us to all go together as a family, and opted to not go with her friends.

Usually, when people wanted to go on vacation, they would meticulously plan and pick specific locations to get the maximum experience. My family often doesn’t do that, sure we do pick some locations to visit, but most of the time we just start exploring around the hotel and travelling to wherever the map took us.

And that is exactly what led to us having experienced the true local life of the people who lived there. So, in Europe I plan to do the same thing together.

Locations and the general idea

There are many locations where my family wants to visit, and the location above—Santorini, is one of them. I think the first time I saw this place was in a HongKong drama. I was blown away to say the least. I fell in love with the pastel themes of the buildings, the unique design and shape of them and the beautiful sea that was near it. It’s also a place which my mother had talked about visiting since my childhood.

Located in Greece, it is quite the popular location for foreign visitors as it is famed for its beauty. Researching more about it, I discovered it’s interesting history. Did you know that Santorini was actually once circular before a volcanic eruption caused the entire center to sink? It’s what made it so special today.

Anyway, I hope to one day visit Santorini and it’s beautiful marketplaces, drink from the balconies of the terraces around it and take a ungodly amount of photos of it.
